L.A. County Fire Search Dogs Inc. was established on January 12, 2016, by dedicated members of the Los Angeles County Fire Department's Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) K9 team. Founded as a California domestic nonprofit corporation, our explicit mission has always been to enhance the capabilities of the department's elite canine teams.

From day one, the organization was structured to provide vital, lifesaving support where municipal funds leave off—securing advanced training opportunities, procuring specialized field equipment, and addressing the critical veterinary and nutritional needs of search dogs that fall outside the Fire Department’s budget constraints.
